DIGITAL MARKETING BOOTCAMP
We’re looking for BIPOC youth ages 14 - 18!
Coyote’s Digital Media Bootcamp is specifically for enterprising BIPOC youth between the ages of 14-18 who are ready to build a creative toolkit for their future. We are looking for students who are innovators, curious, and willing to work hard. This program is especially designed to address the massive inequity gap in the digital marketing world. Black, brown and indigenous youth to the front! Folx with disabilities, trans, queer, or otherwise marginalized youth are encouraged to apply.
What is it?
This 5-month intensive will be broken up into a 3-month Design Intensive and 2-month Creative Internship (in person or online, pending COVID). In the first 3 months, 12 young creatives will work together to create marketing and design materials with Coyote Central as their mock client. They will learn industry standard programs like Adobe Creative Suite, that will become stepping stones for career paths. Workshops will be guided by a professional teaching artist and each participant will be assigned a personal mentor from the industry. The program will culminate in a personalized internship, where youth will get a taste of the real world of graphic design, marketing, advertising and more.
Interested in applying for Teaching Artist or Mentorship roles?
FOR TEACHING ARTISTS // We’re looking for a teaching artist to design and deliver the design intensive bootcamp, with the potential for an assistant pending the lead facilitator’s preference. Guest artists and industry professionals are welcomed and encouraged. Individual mentors from the industry will be provided for each student. The purpose of the mentor is to expand connections, offer fresh perspectives, and provide deeper support for students on projects and skills learned in class.
Time Commitment: Three-month timeline, to include one design intensive class per week (April-June), followed by two group internship check-ins (July-August). Included in the schedule are two-three showcases/job fair gatherings.
FOR MENTORS // We’re looking for experienced Digital Media professionals (8-12 total) to provide 1:1 mentoring to high school students in the Digital Media Bootcamp. The purpose of the program is to help BIPOC youth develop skills, knowhow, and connections that will provide a pipeline to Digital Media professions. The mentor will supplement their student’s weekly classes and assignments by meeting (virtually) with their student on a once-a-week basis for the 3-month duration of the program. Their role is to provide feedback, offer back up tips and tricks, offer support if they get stuck, and generally be another person to engage with and encourage this student on their way. It will be equal parts relational and industry expert.
Time Commitment: 1 hr. weekly for the month of April, May, and June.
